The Jack Holt Memorial Award takes the form of an engraved pace stick awarded to the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer  engaged with Initial Officer Training, considered by the Royal Air Force College to have done the most to instil into the officer cadets the qualities needed of an officer in the Royal Air Force. The award itself is endorsed and sponsored by the Cranwellian Association to commemorate the selfless commitment towards the training of the officer cadet body by Flight Sergeant Jack Holt.
Flight Sergeant Jack Holt was held in high esteem by all for his absolute integrity, professionalism, dedication, and discipline coupled with humanity and a well-developed sense of humour. It is these same qualities that are sought from all Senior Non-commissioned Officers engaged in Initial Officer Training. The recipient of the Jack Holt Memorial Trophy will have, by instruction and personal example, done the most to instill into the Officer Cadets the qualities required of an Officer within the Royal Air Force. They will have succeeded in demonstrating the highest of instructional capabilities, personal standards, and extracurricular activities linked to Initial Officer Training and personal standing and influence across the entire officer cadet cadre.
